EXIT1, INC. LAUNCHES GLOBALHEALTH.GOV FOR U.S. DEPARMENT OF HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES Reston, Va., August 28, 2001 - Web developer Exit1, Inc., today announced the launch of globalhealth.gov, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) global health portal. The site, www.globalhealth.gov, addresses the link between domestic and international health issues and promotes the health of the world's population. Site highlights include information about HHS agencies, global health partnerships, world health statistics, news and events, publications and special reports. Exit1 President & CEO David Baker said, "The development of the globalhealth.gov web site is an example of Exit1's commitment to leveraging its expertise in deploying Internet solutions to help spotlight important social issues facing our world today." The site's primary source of information will be OIRH, which is responsible for representing global health issues to other governments, other federal departments and agencies, international groups and private sector organizations. Among its range of functions, OIRH develops global health policy and strategy positions and coordinates the efforts of HHS with those of other agencies and organizations such as the U.S. Agency for International Development. OIRH also provides leadership for U.S. health engagements with multilateral organizations such as the World Health Organization, the Pan American Health Organization and UNICEF, as well as leadership for bilateral programs with selected countries. OIRH furnishes policy guidance and coordination on health policy issues for refugees with the U.S. State Department, Public Health Service Agencies, the HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement and other related organizations. |
